Bone Key Features
Frontal (1) Forehead (frontal squama), supraorbital margin, foramina, frontal sinuses
Parietal (2) Sides and roof of cranial cavity; convex external surfaces
Temporal (2) Zygomatic process, mandibular fossa, mastoid process, carotid foramen, jugular foramen, external auditory meatus
Occipital (1) Forms back of skull; foramen magnum, occipital condyles, external occipital protuberance
Sphenoid (1) Articulates with all other cranial bones; sella turcica houses pituitary gland; greater and lesser wings
Ethmoid (1) Forms cranial floor, nasal walls, nasal septum; cribriform plate with olfactory foramina; nasal conchae

Nasal (2) Bridge of nose
Maxillae (2) Upper jaw; supports teeth (alveolar processes); forms anterior 2/3 of hard palate
Zygomatic (2) Cheekbones; part of orbit; zygomatic arch formation
Mandible (1) Lower jaw; forms temporomandibular joint (TMJ); attachment for masseter and temporalis muscles
Lacrimal (2) Part of medial wall of orbit; lacrimal sac housing
Palatine (2) Posterior 1/3 of hard palate; lateral nasal wall
Inferior Nasal Conchae (2) Swirl and filter air in the nose
Vomer (1) Forms part of nasal septum
