Lecture 6 Flashcards
T/F one nerve supplies both sides of the diaphragm
F: two nerves R. and L, phrenic
Contraction of the diaphragmatic muscles do what to the direction of the diaphragm (superior or inferior) and causes what core aerobic process?
Diaphragm moves inferior and causes inspiration
What are the arcuate ligaments?
There are three ligaments inferior to the diaphragm that pass over major structures on the posterior wall of the thoracic cavity. The median, medial and lateral arcuate ligaments
What does the median ligament pass over?
The aorta
What do the medial arcuate ligaments pass over?
Psoas mm
What does the the lateral arcuate ligaments cross over?
quadratus lumborum mm
What are the somatic nn. starting at T12? Are they somatic or Autonomic?
T12 = subcostal n. (somatic) L1 = Iliohypgastric and Ilioinguinal nn. (somatic) L1-L2 = Genitofemoral n. (somatic) L2-L3= Lateral femoral cutaneous n. (somatic) L2-L4 = Femoral n. (somatic) L2-L4 = Obturator n. (Somatic) L4-L5 = Lumbosacral trunk (ANS)
What are the vessels of the diaphragm?
Pericardiacophrenic a. & superior phrenic a. both supply superior surface.
Inferior phrenic supplies the inferior surface
muscolophrenic supplies the perirphery
