Q

Describe the CONCLUSIONS of Lee et al.

A

There were age-related changes, suggesting that continued exposure to the Chinese cultural emphasis on modesty has an impact of moral development. Showing although cognitive factors may be important, cultural factors also matter in moral development.

Q

Outline STRENGTHS of Lee et al.

A

Procedures were very simple and easy to standardise, which made the method of assessing moral judgements reliable.
Internal Valdity was also high as the results can bve easily checked for accuracy.
Sample was large and included two different cultures (individualist + collectivist) so comparisions can be made and results can be generalised.

Q

Outline the WEAKNESSES of Lee et al

A

Sampling bias as all the children came from urban rather than rural backhrounds therefore the samples are not representative of all communities
Moral judgements were based on the way that the children reacted to stories, which may not reflect everyday moral judgements.
