- not part of the Uk but arrangements in place to ensure they can receive their prescriptions

- Controlled drug addresses need to be in the uk
Are private prescriptions repeatable
Yes!!! Ensure they meet all the requirements
- if a private prescriptions says, repeat 3 times = we dispense it 4 times!!!!
- contraception can be repeat 5 times so dispensed 6 times in 6 months
What happens when a number of repeats is not stated on the prescription
It a prescription just says repeat, the total number of repeats we do is 1 so just dispense it twice
Are CD’s repeatable on private RX
Schedule 2 and 3 not!
Schedule 4 can be repeated but the first repeat must be within 28 days from the date on the RX, no time frame after that
How long are private repeats valid for?
The first repeat must be completed within 6 months from the date on the RX, no time after
How long do we need to keep the RX in the pharmacy?
2 years after the last repeat
POM Register - for private RX
Records can be written or electronic
1) supply date
2) RX date
3)patient name and address
4)prescribers name and address
5) details of the medicine - name,strength, quantity and form
Owings and validity
Exactly the same as the RX so from the RX date!!
(Oramorph concentrated - remember that 10/5 is schedule 5 and 20/5 is 28 days)
Private CD RX - PINK!!! For schedule 2 and 3
Standardised pink form FP10CD
- send to relevant NHS agency
Record in Pom and CD register (if schedule 2)
