What is covered by the animal welfare act 2006?

A

-you must take reasonable steps to ensure the welfare of a protected animal
-you must not cause a protected animal unnecessary suffering
-cannot use animals as prizes unless accompanied by someone over 16
-you cannot buy an animal if you are under 16
-this act allows the courts to disqualify a person from owning, keeping or being in charge of animals
-if you are responsible for the care of an animal you must provide for its 5 basic needs
