What was war communism?
Implemented in 1918-1921 in emergency to help the red army - forced grain requisitioning - however this would lead to famine - agricutrual productivity declined
Why was NEP introduced?
To revive the economy
What did NEP do for industrilisation?
Denationalized small businesses - which would lead to them excelling. Factory output increased by 200% between 1920 - 1923
What did NEP do for Agriculture?
Peasants were allowed to sell any surplus grain - which would incentivise them to produce more - grain production rose from 37.6 million tonnes in 1921 to 56.6 million tonnes in 1923
How did war communism affect agriculture productvity?
Would drop by 40% of 1913 levels - led to major famine of 5 million dying 1921-22
How did war communism affect industrilisation?
Industrial output decreased by 70% between 1913 and 1921
