Why do we sacrifice or give up something for lent
- Jesús sacrificed for us so we sacrifice for Jesus
-Physical sacrifice helps us to be spiritually disciplined
-Reminder to us of Lent

Yes we can, we are made for others and when we give to others, that’s when we are the most happy.

-fasting is eating less. 2 small meals equal the third
-abstinence mean refraining for eating meat
-we abstain every friday and ash wednesday.

meat was a food of the rich and abstaining from meat makes you act like the poor.

-Jesus was in the desert for 40 days
-40 is a symbolic number for trials and tribulations

Good friday- passion of Jesus, no mass
Holy Saturday- easter vigil at night

Red for Jesus’ passion and blood of martyrs and Holy Spirit.
