(16 cards)
What are the plant processes to move water throughout the plant?
Transpiration, capillary action and osmosis
What is transpiration?
Transpiration is the evaporation of water from the leaves
What is capillary action?
Capillary action is where water travels from the roots to the leaves trough tiny tubes in the roots and stems
What is the process where the plant makes its own food
Photosynthesis
What is the plant process to use food
Cellular Respiration
What are plant pores called
Stomata
What does stomata help the plant with?
It helps the plant move substances in and out of the plant.
What are the three stages of the life cycle of seed plants
Seed, seedling, and adult
What is osmosis
Osmosis is the process that happens when the concentration of water in the soil is higher than the concentration in the plant
What are pollinators
Pollinators are organisms that carry pollen from one plant to another.
What attracts pollinators to flowers
Pollinators come to the plant to find nectar.
What are some examples of pollinators.
Birds insects and bats
How do plants reproduce
The pollen goes into the ovary and makes a seed
What are the processes which the plant reproduces without seeds
With rhizomes and runners
What are runners
Runners are long stems that run on top of the soil
What are rhizomes
Stems that run underground
