Describe S-Z
A tiny downward curve that resembles the longhand comma in shape. Because S often has the sound of Z, as in “saves,” the same tiny stroke is used to express Z.
Describe A
A is the longhand a with the final connecting stroke eliminated.
Describe F and V
F is a downward curve the same shape as S, but is longer–about half the height of the space between the ruled lines of the notebook.
Describe E
The longhand E with the two connecting strokes omitted. The circle may be written in either direction.
Describe N and M
N is a very short forward line. M is a longer forward straight line.
Describe T and D
T is a short slanted upward straight line. D is a longer upward straight line.
Describe a period.
A small slash to the right.
