Lesson 1 Flashcards
(21 cards)
Synergistic combination of mechanics, electronics, computing, and control engineering.
Mechatronics
It performs task that were previously performed by humans
Automation
This interdisciplinary combination of fields aims to provide solutions to a more high level approach of design, prototyping, and implementation of hybrid systems.
Mechatronics
Set or combination of components that act together to maintain actual system performance close to a desired set of performance specification.
Control Systems
Device or equipment that is used to provide data or control signals into particular processing system.
Input Device
Device or equipment that when combined to a proper configuration, can create logic to perform a specific function.
Control/Logic Devices
Device that can be controlled to create a specified output.
Output Device
What are the 2 Basic Control Systems?
- Open Loop System
- Closed Loop System
An input device having a plurality of terminals, means operated by a “lever” for making and breaking electrical connection between pairs of those terminals.
Toggle Switch
An input device that is configured to detect when a system’s element has moved to a certain position.
Limit Switches
An input device that are commonly employed for sensing the position of a mechanism, the movement of which is to be monitored by providing a switched output in response to the passage.
Reed Switches
An input device that detects metallic objects without touching them. It uses an electromagnetic field in order to sense objects.
Inductive proximity sensor
An input device that produces electrostatic field to sense object
Capacitive Proximity Sensors
This input device can sense both metal and non metallic objects such as paper and glass
Capacitive proximity sensors
An input device which is another type of sensing device that uses modulated light beam that is either broken or reflected by the target.
Photoelectric sensor
Input Device that uses a transducer to send and receive high frequency sound signals
Ultrasonic proximity sensor
This sensor energize and de-energize when the target enters the beam of sound and reflected it back to the device.
Ultrasonic proximity sensor
An output device that have a thin wire filament which becomes very hot and glows brightly when current passes through it.
Lamp
Machine that produces mechanical movement (rotation) when supplied with electricity.
This motion is caused by interaction of magnetic field and current -carrying conductors.
Motors
an electromechanical valve that controls the flow of liquid or gas by running or stopping an electric current through solenoid.
Solenoid Valve
Electromechanical switches that are triggered by supplying electricity through its coil.
When energized, its contacts will switch to its opposite state.
