Q

Rome’s Geography and how it affected Rome’s growth.

A

Rome lies near the center of the Italian Peninsula. A high mountain range called the Alps separates Italy from the rest of Europe. Italy has some flat lands so that soldiers can march from one place to another. This made it easier for Rome to unite the entire peninsula. Italy also has several rivers which boats can use for transportation and trade. Italy has large, fertile, flat lands which were great for farming. This helped Rome produce products such as olive oil, wheat, grapes, and wine. They also raised sheep and goats for milk and wool.
