What is the forgotten key to evangelism and what’s it’s importance?

A

The forgotten key is the law. The law is important because it brings knowledge of sin by exposing our sin and causes us to realize our need for a savior.

Q

In what verse does Jesus talk about the “key?” What is the key here and what does Jesus have to say in this verse?

A

Luke 11:52, Jesus says the lawyers have taken away the key of knowledge. The key is the law, and the knowledge is the knowledge of sin. The lawyers have taken it away in that they are not properly teaching it, therefore, people do not have the proper knowledge concerning their sin. Hosea 4:6 is in line with this and says that my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

Q

How does the law stop self justification?

A

The law sets a clear standard. Romans 3:19 says that it stops every mouth, meaning that people can not justify their sins anymore bc the law declares sin to be sin.

Q

How did Paul persuade people?

A

I’m Acts 28:23 he says he did it by using the law of Moses and the prophets. The law works at the conscience of a person by convicting them of their sin, and the prophets (prophesy) works at the intellect of a person showing that the Bible can be trusted since the prophetic words came true.

Q

Who was the law given for and why?

A

1 Timothy 1:9 says it was given for sinners. It was given so that sinners would recognize they are sinners, and ultimately recognize their need for a savior. The law makes the Gospel make sense.
