A
  1. Decide whether or not to include the combining vowel (i/o/e) to the end of the root word:

If suffix begins with consonant, include the combining vowel (E.x. Nephrology)

If suffix begins with vowel, do not include (E.x. Arthritis)

  1. Use the combining vowel is two combining forms (i/o/e) are being combined (E.x. Myocardial, Osteoarthritis)

Remember: Use the combining vowel even if the second combining form already begins with a vowel
