Lesson 2 Flashcards
Your body adapts to the type of training you do. If you want to be good at something, you must train specifically for that activity
SPECIFICITY – “TRAIN FOR THE GOAL YOU WANT”
To improve, you must challenge your body more than it’s used to. This forces it to adapt and get stronger, faster, or more efficient.
OVERLOAD – “PUSH BEYOND YOUR COMFORT ZONE”
Overload must increase gradually over time to ensure continuous improvement. If you stay at the same intensity, progress will stop.
PROGRESSION – “KEEP INCREASING THE CHALLENGE”
People respond differently to training due to genetics, fitness levels, age, and lifestyle.
INDIVIDUALITY – “EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT”
Your muscles grow and recover after exercise, not during it. Without proper recovery, you risk injury, fatigue, and overtraining.
RECOVERY (REST & ADAPTATION) – “REST TO GET STRONGER”
Repeating the same workout too often can cause boredom and training plateaus (when progress stops). Changing exercises keeps workouts effective and exciting.
VARIATION – “MIX UP YOUR WORKOUTS”
Once you reach your fitness goal, you must keep training at a lower level to maintain results. Stopping completely leads to loss of progress.
MAINTENANCE – “KEEP TRAINING TO KEEP YOUR GAINS”
