Culture
Everything that people have, think, and do as members of a group or society.
Microculture
A specific set of cultural features nested within a larger, more dominant culture.
Cultural Awareness
A person’s understanding of their culture, microcultures, other cultures, and the similarities and differences between them.
Howell’s Scale of Cultural Awareness
Measures people’s cultural awareness based on their level of consciousness and ignorance.
Kimmel’s Model of Cultural Awareness
Measures people’s cultural awareness based on their beliefs about cultures and cross-cultural contact.

The process of thinking about what others think of ourselves.
Tolerance for Uncertanity
The ability to be comfortable entering and remaining comfortable in uncertain situations.
Cognitive Flexibility
Refers to the ability to continually supplement and revise existing knowledge to create new categories and frameworks rather than forcing new knowledge into old categories and frameworks.
