55
The ています form
The ています form is the verb+ing form in English. It is used when an action is currently taking place or is ongoing. Verb in the positive て form with います ending. [positive て form verb] + います I am [verb]-ing If it is いません then the action was not occuring. いました then it was occuring in the past. いませんでした then it wasn't occuring in the past.
56
ています vs てます
In spoken Japanese, people often drop the い sound in the ています verb form. In speaking it sounds more relaxed and casual.
57
This is better than that
Depending on context より can mean "than, more than, or instead of". [item 1] is more [adjective] than [item 2] [item 2] より[item 1]のほうが[adjective]です
58
Using より alone
Can be used on it's own to say more than, instead of, than, or rather than.
59
Using のほうが alone
You can use this by itself あしたのほうがいいです Tomorrow is better
60
Saying "or" in Japanese using か
か is used between words in a list to say "or". It is optional to have か on the last item of the list. えんぴつかペンでかいてください Please write it with a pencil or pen
