The process through which people are taught how to become acceptable members of the society, a lifelong process that can be taught by family, peers, and others
SOCIALIZATION
boundaries/guides that govern how people behave in society
Norms
a person’s “position” in society
Status
received or inherited involuntarily at birth or later on in life
Ascribed Status
taken on voluntarily with one’s own efforts
Achieved Status
expected actions and behavior from people of different statues and societal norms
Role
adhering to the norms and expectations of society, doing what the others are doing, doing what is expected of you
Conformity
defying the norms of society, defined contextually based on culture and society
Deviance
