Are demons real?
Yes, they exist and are mentioned in Scripture numerous times, both in the Old and New Testament. Jesus spoke with them, commanded them and more. Not once did Jesus dismiss the idea that demons are fake or just in people’s minds. Sometimes demons answered him. Sometimes they made people suffer. We also have thousands of reports of people suffering under demonic influence.
Evidence includes passages like Psalm 106:37-38, 2 Corinthians 11:14-15, and Luke 8:2.

What were demons identified as in the Old Testament?
Evil spirits or angels. Also the source of sin. Names were Azazel and probably Lilith
These figures represent spiritual beings that work against God and His people.
What is one argument against the existence of demons?
Biblical society was pre-scientific, attributing conditions like schizophrenia to demons. However, this does not account for how Jesus talks about them or the dangers that they pose to people. Also, mental illness does not show itself as evil or able to do stuff that demons can do.
This does not account for the way Jesus interacted with demons.
What are demons described as?
Fallen angels, created by God but turned evil by their choice to follow Lucifer, or Satan.
They are angels who sided with Satan during the Great Battle in Heaven.
What is the origin of demons?
God made them as angels and they started out in Heaven that way. After the war in Heaven they were cast out of Heaven and now roam the earth and Hell.
They influence and tempt humans in the physical world.
What is the primary mission of demons?
To destroy and/or harm humans by leading them away from God
This includes tempting them to sin.
What are some common temptations used by demons?
- Sex
- Power

These temptations are designed to make sin appear innocent or fun.

This is one form of demonic influence recognized by certain churches.
What is the difference between oppression and possession?
Oppression is a personal attack; possession is when a demon takes over the body
Possession does not include the soul.
What can demons not do?

- Read our minds
- Force us to sin, only to tempt us
- Be everywhere.
- Match the power of God
These limitations highlight their inferiority to God.
How can one protect themselves from demons?
Go to church, engage in the sacramental life such as taking communion, pray, worship God with music or study and avoid occult practices such as Quija boards, Tarot cards or other occult practices.
Regular practices like baptism and confession are essential.

False. They can tempt and taunt but they can’t enter our soul or minds without our invitation.
Demons generally need human permission to act beyond temptation.
