Let me talk condensed Flashcards

(14 cards)

1
Q

Long passing

A

Plant, contact position, follow through
Impacts: progress up the pitch, bring their defensive line up, team to gain territory and apply pressure, taking pressure off themselves
Number 6 used newtons third law of Action and Reaction

Q

Short passing

A

Pass consistently with both feet, always finding his teammates, sufficient power so they can control and not intercept
Impacts: keep ball, opponents expend energy pressing, open up gaps, goal scoring opportunities
Freedom of movement due to the Bosman ruling. Encouraged courageous styles of play highlighting the rewards of high possession based teams.

Q

Dribbling

A

Used both feet, beat multiple opponents, driving into space, kept the ball close to his feet so he could react to defenders quickly
Impacts: progressed the ball up the pitch, advantageous position, build offensive pressure, build momentum, increase the likelihood of defensive mistakes
Skill is habitual and has been overlearned so he is in the autonomous stage for this skill.

Q

Long shooting

A

Not strong plant next to ball, leaning back, head not over the ball, hit wrong part of ball
Impacts: wasted a good opportunity, gave possession back, own teams performance to decrease as they are now chasing the ball and wasting energy
The performer may have too many Fg fibres in comparison to SO
increased force and speed of contraction of his muscles

Q

Standing tackle

A

No connection with the ball, poor body position, slow reaction time
Impacts: opponents run past him, take him out the game, dangerous scenario attacking, overload situations to enhance chances of winning
The player may have had low levels of arousal as his reticular activating system may have controlled him to have lower intensity of arousal. This caused him to not be in an energised state of readiness to perform the tackle meaning he lacked intensity and missed the tackle.

Q

Which pass to make

A

Correct decision, open player, easy to control, no pressure on them
Impacts: keep control of the game, build up to create chances directly or indirectly, can dictate the rhythm of play, potentially create more goal-scoring opportunities.
Atkinson and Shiffrin’s multi store model so he can recall from LTM to working memory

Q

Awareness of rules and regulations and their applications

A

Calling for offside in the correct situations, preventing himself from fouling by pulling away
Impacts: no unneeded pressure, no larger risk of conceding, keep themselves in game
Rules developed from Mob Football and then becoming more standardised with the introduction of the FA in 1863 throughout the 19th 20th and 21st.

Q

Where to dribble

A

Into space, advance the ball, keep the ball, good attacking areas.
Impacts: dragged opposing players out, gaps created to exploit, greater likelihood of creating chances and scoring
High quality so experience greatest happiness and self-fulfilment which is a ‘peak flow experience’ meaning its most likely that he has high somatic arousal and low cognitive anxiety.

Q

Where to tackle

A

Unable to contact the ball, out of the game, poor timing
Impacts: defend without CDM, defence vulnerable, concede good chance, loss chance of counters
The players knee must be extended with the rectus femoris being the agonist and the antagonist being the bicep femoris. The hips will also extend to try to generate power in the tackle.

Q

When to shoot

A

Leaning back, off balance, with multiple players closing him down.
Impacts: lost possession, other team begin to build out giving them more control, upper hand on chance creation and possession
Open skill requiring decision making so cognitive or associative stage

Q

Cardiovascular endurance

A

High standard as game progresses without tiring, constantly run up down, quality of passing and other key aspects stayed, never looking tired or fatigued.
Impacts: no fatigue, stay on for full game, sustain high levels, can constantly rely, help towards the goal of winning the game
High aerobic capacity and VO2 max due to being a male, a fairly young age and his physiological makeup causing greater efficiency of respiratory system meaning greater transportation and utilisation of oxygen.

Q

Power

A

Enables explosive movements like quick accelerations and jumps,
showed great power in duels and explosive movements of limbs like long passing and shooting
Impacts: ball travel far at speed, help transition the ball early with long passes or diagonals, to turn the defence around on the counter attack
The player may have been doing plyometric training involving rapid, powerful movements that combine speed and strength to increase his explosive power

Q

Strength endurance

A

Exert force repeatedly over an extended period of time with minimal effects of fatigue from prolonged periods of exercise.
Impacts: sustain performance levels, continue to complete sprints tackles and passes, gain an advantage as other players tire and their levels drop.
The player may draw on the aerobic system as it provides them with high ATP yield and long duration of energy production with no fatiguing by-products

Q

Agility

A

Agility helps players move quickly and change direction in response to the movement of the ball or another player
Impacts: could not react to opponents dribbling, couldn’t shift quickly enough, getting past, run towards goal.
The player may need to try and improve their agility by training dynamic flexibility which may help them combat their weakness.
