What are 2 push factors from rural areas?
Lack of medical care, means illness and disease cannot be treated.
Lack of schools, means little chance for children to get an education and a good job later in life
What are 2 advantages of living in Rio?
The number of health clinics in Rio is higher than anywhere else in the country, which means residents generally have better access to medical services compared to people living in more rural or less developed areas. This greater availability of healthcare facilities can lead to earlier diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, this can lower the infant mortality rates in Rio. This can also improve the quality of life. This is a social advantage in the long run.
Even though waste collection is a challenge in Rocinha, it can also create job opportunities for local people. Some residents are employed to help collect and sort rubbish, which gives them a source of income. This helps reduce poverty and gives people a chance to support their families while improving the cleanliness of the community.
What are 2 disadvantaes of living in Rio?
Because healthcare in Rio is better than in many other parts of Brazil, people are living longer and the life expectancy is higher. However, this can lead to overpopulation, especially in urban areas. As more people live longer, it puts extra pressure on public services like hospitals and schools, making it harder for everyone to get the care and education they need. this is a social dosadvantage in the long run.
In Rocinha, only 50% of waste is collected, which causes serious problems for people living there. Rubbish builds up on the streets, attracting rats and insects that can spread diseases. It also pollutes the environment and can block drains, leading to flooding when it rains. This makes living conditions unhealthy and dangerous for many residents.
Write a conclusion about living in Rio
In conclusion, Rio has both advantages and disadvantages when it comes to healthcare and waste management. The city has more health clinics than anywhere else in Brazil, which improves life expectancy and gives people better access to medical care. However, this can lead to overpopulation and put pressure on hospitals and schools. In areas like Rocinha, poor waste collection causes serious health risks, but it also creates job opportunities for local people. Overall, while Rio has made progress, there are still big challenges to overcome, especially in poorer communities.
