Describe what life was like in Britain in 1901.
In 1901, life in Britain was characterized by a transition from the Victorian to the Edwardian era. The quality of life was generally high, with improvements in nutrition, clothing, health, and education compared to many other countries.

Wives and children of National Insurance members were excluded, as was hospital treatment, meaning many had to pay further fees, or rely on older workers’ friendly society insurance schemes, free clinics for mothers and children, and visiting pharmacists for advice.

Created in 1948, the NHS was designed to provide ‘free at the point of use’ healthcare to everyone, funded by taxes.

Despite warnings of icebergs in the North Atlantic, the ship sailed at full speed on the night of April 14. At approximately 11:40 PM, disaster struck. The Titanic collided with an iceberg, causing a gash in its hull that led to the flooding of its watertight compartments.
