Ligasure Precautions

cutting tissue

A
  • Do not engage the cutting mechanism over metal objects as damage to the cutter may occur
  • If the cutting trigger does not automatically return to position, unlatch and open the device to manually return the cutting trigger
  • If the device cannot be unlatched following use, open the.device by forcing the ring handles open. The device may no longer function properly and should be discarded

Q

Ligasure Precautions

Sealing Vessels & Tissue Bundles

A
  • Do not use ligasure on vessels over 7 mm in diameter
  • do not activate the system until the device is fully ratcheted or you hear/feel two clicks
  • Eliminate tension on the tissue when ceiling and cutting to ensure proper function and reduce bleeding.
  • Do not divide tissue before the cycle is complete as this may result in improper sealing
  • Care should be taken in confined spaces as the seal cycle energy may cause water to be converted into steam and possibly cause unintended injury to issue in close proximity to the jaws
