Light Flashcards
(16 cards)
Speed
The rate at which an object moves
Velocity
The speed of an objects in a given direction
Force
A push or pull exerted on an object in an effort to change that objects velocity
Electric circuit
A closed path through which electric current flows
Simple machine
A device that either multiplies or redirects a force
To people are sitting in a car and the passenger waves to a friend as the drive by. From the passengers view is the driver moving. From the person on the streets view is the driver moving.
From the passengers view the driver is not moving. From the walkers view he is. This means motion is relevant.

Say Newton’s 3 laws
An object in motion or at rest will stay that way until it is acted upon by an outside force
When an object is acted on by one or more outside forces, the total force is equal to the mass of the object times the resulting acceleration F= m*a
For every action they is an equiel and opisset reaction
Match the illustration to Newtons 3 laws
Using a stronger force to push a piano compared to the force necessary to push a chair
A cannon moving backward when it shoots cannon ball
A stationary ball

Name 7 simple machines
Wedge, lever, screw, pulley, inclined plane, wheel axle.
What is the wavelength and amplitude on a wave.
The wavelength is the space between to tops of the wave. The amplitude is how much space is in between the mild and the top of the wave.
What is the difference between a high pitch and a low pitch.
The high sound has a high frequency then the low one.
What is the difference between transparent, translucent, opaque.
Transparent objects let all light through, like glass. Translucent objects let some light through, like a lamp shade. Opaque objects let no light through, like me.
How do we see different colors.
When we look at a yellow shirt, all the light except yellow get absorbed.
What characteristics of objects affect how much friction the object has.
Weight, shape, texture, how much of it is on the table.
