light independant reactions - pack 12c Flashcards

1
Q

thylakoids and the light dependant reactions

A

consists of a series of enzyme controlled reactions (which require energy), energy has to be mutually stored as chemical potential energy is ATP stored in water in the thylakoid membrane. the formation ATP results from redox reactions that transfer e^- between carrier molecules located within thylakoid membranes in chloroplasts

Q

the stroma and the light independant reactions

A

chemical potential energy within ATP used in light independant reactions which are dependent on the collision of substances and enzymes - found in stroma at concentration that allow reactions to be catalysed quickly

Q

what happens to the hexose sugar / glucose

A

a- glucose to be used in respiration of converted into sucrose for transportation to be stored as starch (amylose and amylopectin), B-glucose to form cellulose, amino acids, lipids and nucleic acids
