The definition of common, proper, abstract and concrete noun
Common- refers to people or things in general
Proper- identifies a particular person place or thing (capital letters eg Josh, Africa)
Concrete noun- refers to things that physically exist
Abstract noun- refers to ideas qualities and conditions
Give examples of an absolute, comparative and superlative adjective
Happy, Happier, Happiest
What’s the difference between attributive and predicative adjectives
Attributive - before the noun(black cat)
Predictive - after the verb (cat was black)
Difference between referential and evaluative adjectives
Referential - giving factual info
(Red book)
Evaluative - offers an opinion “exam was difficult”
Difference between stative or dynamic verbs
Dynamic verbs - describe events or activities “play, melt, hit”
Stative verbs- a state or condition which is quite static or unchanging “hate, believe, contain, own”
Difference between primary auxiliary verbs and modal auxiliary verbs?
Primary- be, do, have, used with other verbs to form various tenses, moods
Modal- must, shall, will, should, would, ought, can, could, may, and might. Used with other verbs to express necessity, possibility, ability
Different types of adverbs
Time, place, manner (ly), degree, frequency
Difference sentence functions
Declarative- makes a statement
Interrogative- asks question
Imperative- issues a command
Exclamatory- expresses a strong feeling!
