Brand: Prinvil, Zestril
Indication: HTN, HF, MI
SE: SCr, hyperkalemia (high potassium lvls –> may lead to cardiac arrhythmias), angioedema (swelling under skin)
Monitor: BP, renal function, serum potassium
Clinical Pearls:
-Can take with or without food
-Stay hydrated
-Monitor BP often
-Ongoing vomiting or diarrhea, or sweating more than usual –> call doctor (med can dehydrate), can lead to very low BP, electrolyte disorder, kidney failure
-Look for signs of angioedema
-May cause dry cough, headache, dizziness
-Continue to use even if feeling better (high BP has no symptoms)
-Do not take with any meds that contain sacubitril (entresto) or aliskiren
Contraindications: preggo/breastfeeding
Discontinue as soon as pregnancy is detected
