A non-realistic mode where form distorts reality to reflect emotional or psychological truth. Emphasises inner states rather than external logic.
What is Plastic Theatre?
A dramatic style using symbolic props, lighting, sound, and staging to represent internal emotional realities. Enriches meaning beyond dialogue.
What are Entrances & Exits?
The strategic use of timing and positioning of character appearances to build tension, shift power, or punctuate scenes.
What is Offstage Action?
Significant events occur beyond the stage; invites audience imagination, builds tension, and maintains ambiguity.
What are Symbolic Props?
Objects used on stage that carry metaphorical or thematic significance. Reinforces psychological or thematic meaning.
What is a Soundscape?
Layered use of ambient or symbolic sound to evoke mood or mirror character emotion. Enhances emotional or thematic tone.
What are Scene Transitions?
The way scenes shift—abrupt, fluid, fragmented. Controls pacing, narrative rhythm, and emotional build-up or disorientation.
What is Character Doubling?
Characters reflecting, opposing, or echoing each other. Highlights thematic contrasts or psychological parallels.
