Characterization
The method in which the author develops a character. This includes the character thoughts, words and actions and what the narrator and other characters say about him/her
Theme
The main moral or message of a piece of literature.
Point of view
The perspective from which a story is told (narrated)
First person
The narrator is the part of the story and uses personal pronouns (I, me)
Third person
The narrator is an outside voice telling the story
Irony

- dramatic

Irony: situational
When something other than what is expected to happen happens.
Irony: dramatic
When the reader or audience knows more about a situation than a character.
Irony: verbal
When a person says or writes something, but means something else (sarcasm).

A problem a character faces within an outside face

Direct ch
Tells the audience what personality of the character is
Indirect
Shows things that reveal personality of a character . This can be revealed through a characters speech, thoughts, actions, interactions with others etc
Dynamic
The experience changes throughout the play of a story, the change may be sudden or the change may be gradual and take place through out a story
Static
That do not experience basic character changes during the course of a story.
Protagonist
The central character or hero
Antagonist
A person or force that opposes the protagonist
Setting
The time and place in which a story takes place
Plot
The structure of a story
Exposition
The basic background information revealed setting, characters, past, events
Rising action
Conflict develops
Climax
The turning point of the story interest and intensity are at its peak
Falling action
Events that occur after climax
