What are the important points on Lithium?
A
Mood stabilizer first line
For mania, depression
Acute mania
(Lithium + valproate + antipsychotic + benzodiazepine)
Maintenance
NOT in kidney disease, pregnancy, breastfeeding
Do ECG, RFT, Thyroid, SE, pregnancy test
Monitor blood level every 6 months (0.6-0.8mM)
, thyroid and renal every 12 months
Toxicity at > 1.5 mMol/L
