liver failure Flashcards
(6 cards)
what is the mechanism of congestive heart failure
when you have haemorrhage as a result of congestive heart failure there is raised hydrostatic pressure at the venule end of the capillary, hydrostatic pressure opposes oncotic pressure for a longer length along the capillary. more net filtration than normal causing fluid to enter tissues causing oedema
what is the mechanism for haemorrhage
reduced capillary hydrostatic pressure, capillary hydrostatic pressure opposes oncotic pressure for less time along its length, more fluid movement from interstitial fluid into capillaries for a longer period of time. increasing blood volume at the expense of interstitial fluid
liver failure haemorrhage
liver haemorrhage causes a reduced capillary oncotic pressure. hydrostatic pressure opposes oncotic pressure for a longer length along the capillary, causing increased filtration leading to oedema. more fluid movement from capillaries into interstitial fluid for a longer period of time. this increases the blood volume at the expense of the interstitial fluid.
