- they have a duty to furfil these acts as best as they can for example if they see a person in need they should help

they are crucial in guding the practices of shia muslims and a re a way of shwoing commitment to islam

many important duties of muslims are drawn into 5 pillars and they both have significance for sunni and shia muslims

its a deleceration of belief that muslims are required to say - describe sthe essance of islam
why is shahadah important
- sums up teh core muslims beliefs which are tawhid and risalah
- anyone who wants to become muslim is required to repeat those words
- it reminds muslims of a important commitment they made to they are more likley to honour it

what are the different features of salah
times - there are 5 times of prayer at fixed times for sunni - for shia they combine prayers into 3 times a day
ablution (wudu) - being clean before before prayer - sunni wash whole head and wash feet - shia wash front and back of head and top of feet
direction - must be preformed facing makkah where that kabah is
movements - prayer is made up for standing,bowing,kneeling,prstrating which is known as rak’ah
recititaions - words recited taken mainly from the quran
where does salah take place
salah can be offered anywhere but muslims aim to go to the mosque - salah at home must be done in a clean space
- most important prayer is jummah on fridays in mosque

- fasting which is observed in the holy month of ramadam
- muslims hope to feel the night of power which is a special connection with allah

- it can make them purer both spirtually and physicallt

they too think they can experience their oen night of power especially in the month of ramadan

it was the start of the revelation of the quran which muslims believe to be the final message from allah to humainty
what is zakah and khums
zakah - muslims believe that welath is a gift so they should give it to those less fortunante - 2.5% of their savings or wealth
khums - addtional tax paid by shi’as thatleaders spend on a particular cause
