Lobes Flashcards
(18 cards)
Parietal Lobe
Somatosensory
Occipital Lobe
Vision
Frontal Lobe
Motor
Tertiary
Sends info to the primary cortex
Frontal Lobe- Primary Motor Cortex
Key: initiation of voluntary motor control or movement on a conscious or cortical level
Frontal lobe- (secondary) Premotor and supplementary motor areas
key: movement on command or praxis AKA motor planning involving cognition
once learned and automatic it is stored in your basal ganglia
Frontal Lobe- tertiary prefrontal cortex aka orbitofrontal cortex
key- hgiher cognitive functions, cognitive functions, personality changes
Brocas Area- expressive speech production
Parietal Lobe- primary somatosensory cortex
key: initial reception of somatosensory or tactile senses
info from dorsal column and spinothalamic tracts, critical for perception
Parietal Lobe- secondary somatosensory association area
key: interpretation and discrimination functions
Parietal Lobe- tertiary association areas
Key: further refinement or perception
language comprehension
Temporal Lobes- primary auditory cortex
key: inital reception of auditory sensory information
Temporal Lobes- secondary association area
usually left hemisphere- wernickes area for further refinement and language comprehension
Temporal Lobe- tertiary
further refinement of sensory information, visual stimuli, language, memory and learning
Occipital Lobes- Primary Visual Cortex
reception of visual sensory information
Occipital Lobe- Cuneus Upper half of primary visual cortex
key: initial reception of visual sensory information
Occupital Lobe- secondary and tertiary association areas
continuous with parahippocampal gyrys, visual processing relatied to memory
Occipital lobe- seondary and tertiary (rest of Occ. Lobe)
further refinement and interpretation of perception
Temporal Lobe
processing auditory information and memory
