18
Q

Which nerve supplies upper premolars and buccal gingivae?

A

MSD or in 50% of people, a plexus of PSD and ASD

19
Q

Which nerve supplies upper canines and incisors and labial gingivae incisive region?

20
Q

Which nerve supplies palatal gingivae in the upper molar/premolar region?

A

Greater palatine nerve

21
Q

Which nerve supplies palatal gingivae in the upper incisive region?

A

Long sphenopalatine

22
Q

Mandibular division

A
  • sensory and motor nerve
  • anterior and posterior division
  • anterior is motor
  • posterior is sensory
23
Q

Anterior division of mandibular division

A
  • masseteric
  • deep temporal
  • nerve to lateral pterygoid
  • buccal
24
Q

Buccal nerve of ant man div

A
  • runs between heads of lateral pterygoid
25
Where does buccal nerve supply?
- buccal mucosa and gingivae of lower molars and premolars
26
Posterior division of mandibular division
Auriculotemporal Inferior Dental* Lingual *
27
Inferior Dental Nerve
Enters mandibular foramen Runs in inferior dental canal. Branches off into mental and incisive nerve.
28
Where does the ID nerve supply?
Pulps of lower molars and premolars
29
Where does the mental nerve supply?
Mucous membrane of lower lip, skin of lip and chin
30
Where does incisive Nerve supply?
Pulps of lower incisor teeth
31
Lingual Nerve
Descends near ID nerve and runs along medial of mandible
32
Where does the lingual nerve supply?
Sensation to: - anterior 2/3 of tongue - mucus membrane of FOM - lingual surface of alveolar process
33
Which nerve supplies pulps of lower teeth?
Inferior dental nerve
34
Which nerve supplies buccal gingivae of lower molars/premolars?
Buccal nerve
35
Which nerve supplies the labial gingivae of premolars/incisors
Mental nerve
36
Which nerve supplies the lingual gingivae?
Lingual nerve
37
Why is blood supply to the teeth relevant when anesthetising?
- Injecting LA directly into blood vessel increases risk of toxicity. - LA effect will not last as long, as blood supply will carry it away - prevent trauma and bleeding
38
External Carotid artery branches
``` Superior thyroid Ascending pharyngeal Lingual* Facial* Occipital Posterior auricular Maxillary* Superficial temporal ```
39
Lingual Artery supply
Tongue - FOM - lingual mucosa - lower teeth
40
Facial Artery Supply
- cheeks | - lips
41
Maxillary Artery Branches
PSDA | Palatine
42
Where does PSDA supply?
- buccal gingivae of molars - mucous membrane and maxillary antrum - molar teeth
43
Where does Palatine artery supply?
- mucoperiosteum of hard palate towards incisive foramen
44
Consent for LA
Verbal consent is sufficient
