Q
Summarize the process of the contraction of your biceps brachii muscle from the time the electrical impulse leaves your brain to innate the contraction
A
- voluntary movement to contract.
- directed by central nervous system.
- insisted when a signal travels to the neuromuscular junction.
- sliding filament theory.
- resting phase
- excitement-contraction: trigger mechanism, bind to troponin, tropomyosin shifts, cross-bridges in myosin attach to actin filaments. Force is dependant on cross bridges.
- contraction phase: ATP undergoes hydrolysis through an enzyme called ATPase, gives muscle energy.
- recharge phase: muscle contraction can’t occur unless there is supply of ATPase, calcium, myosin and ATP.
- relaxation phase: muscle goes back to its original place.
