what are the two main categories of long-term memory and what do they mean?

A

implicit (nondeclarative) - ability to recall a movement of sequence or how to perform some act of behaviour - unconscious memory
explicit (declarative) - ability to recall what no one knows, to detail the time, place and circumstances of events - conscious memory

A

skills, how you perform certain actions e.g., playing the piano
procedural learning occurs slowly, and gradually, often assessed in the lab through serial reaction time tasks
