17
Q

What is an Exit Point?

A

An Exit point is where the Qi exits the Meridian. An Exit point always goes to the 1st point on the next channel. Not necessarily its paired channel.

18
Q

What is the name of the Lung Channel?

19
Q

What is the Xi Cleft Point of the Lung Channel?

20
Q

Does Lung Channel have a Front Mu Point?

21
Q

True or False - All 12 Channels have a Yuan Source, a Luo, and a Xi Cleft Point.

A

True - All 12 Channels have a Yuan Source Point, a Luo Point and a Xi Cleft Point.

22
Q

True or False - All points on the Lung Channel are bilateral.

23
Q

Where does the Lung Channel begin?

A

In the Middle Jiao.

24
Q

Where does the Lung Channel end?

A

On the radial side of the thumb.

25
Trace the Lung Channel
``` The Lung Channel begins in the Middle Jiao goes down to the Large Intestine up to the diaphragm and into the Lungs continues up to the throat down to the shoulder and down the arm ends on the radial side of the thumb ```
26
Where does the Lung Divergent Channel break off?
The Lung Divergent Channel breaks off above the elbow
27
Where does the Lung Tendinomuscular Channel go?
The Lung Tendinomuscular channel begins at the extremity (at the Jing Well) Moves inwards and knots at the extremities Goes into the intercostal spaces
28
What muscle group should we associate with the Lung Luo or Lung Collateral?
Thenar Eminence
29
LU1 Category, Location, Functions, Indications
Category: Front Mu of Lung Location: Laterosuperior to the sternum, at the level of the 1st intercostal space 6 cun lateral to the midline (oblique) Functions: Clears and diffuses the upper burner and courses Lung Qi (sends Lung Qi downward) Indications: cough, asthma, pain in the chest, shoulder and back, fullness in the chest
30
LU2 Category, Location, Functions, Indications
``` **highest point on the Lung Channel Category: -- Location: In the superior lateral part of the anterior thoracic wall, superior to the coracoid process of the scapula, in the depression of the infraclavicular fossa 6 cun lateral to the anterior midline (oblique) Functions: same as LU1 Indications: same as LU1 ```
31
LU3 - Category, Locations, Functions, Indications
Category: -- Locations: On the Medial aspect of the upper arm 3 cun below the end of the axillary fold On the radial side of the m. biceps brachii (perpendicular) Functions: Clears Lung Heat and regulates Lung Qi Indications: asthma, epistaxis, pain in the medial aspect of the arm
32
LU4 Category, Locations, Functions, Indications
Category: -- Locations: On the Medial Aspect of the Upper Arm 4 cun below the anterior end of the axillary fold, or 5 cun above the cubital crease, on the radial side of the m biceps brachii (perpendicular) Functions: Regulates Qi and Blood, relieves pain Indications: cough, fullness in the chest, pain in the medial aspect of the upper arm
33
LU5 - Category, Location, Functions and Indications
Category: He Sea Point Sedating Point Son Point Water Point - Cools the Lungs Location: On the transverse cubital crease, on the radial side of the tendon of the m. biceps brachii. Locate with the elbow slightly bent (perpendicular) Functions: Discharges lung fire, hemoptysis, sore throat Downbears Counterflow Qi: cough and asthma Clears upper burner heat: afternoon fever, mastitis
34
LU6 - Category, Locations, Function, Indication
Category: Xi Cleft Point Location: On the palmar aspect of the forearm, on the line joining LU9 and LU5 7 cun above the wrist crease (perpendicular) Functions: Regulates Lung Qi and causes Lung Qi to descend -- acute asthma attack Clears Heat Stops Bleeding Indications: cough, pain in chest, asthma, hemoptysis, sore throat, spasmodic pain of the elbow and arm
35
LU7 - Category, Locations, Function, Indication
Category: Luo Connecting Point Command Point of the Head and Neck Confluent Point of Ren Exit Point Location: Superior to the Styloid Process of the radius, 1.5 cun above the transverse crease of the wrist (obliquely upwards) Functions: -Major function is to diffuse the lung and dispel cold: cough, asthma, sore throat - Disperse Wei Qi and dispel cold -Courses channels and frees the connecting vessels: pain and weakness in the wrist -Also treats headache, migraine, neck rigidity, facial paralysis, tooth ache -Mostly treats wind cold, but can be used to treat wind heat (Often combine with KD6 when trying to address Yin Deficiency and chronic dry throat)
36
LU8 - Category, Location, Function, Indication
``` Category: Jing River Horary Point Location: 1 cun above the transverse crease of the wrist in the depression on the lateral side of the radial artery (perpendicular - avoid radial artery) Function: -Diffuses the lung and downbears qi -Courses wind and resolves the exterior Indications: cough, asthma, fever, pain in chest, sore throat, pain in wrist ```
37
LU9 - category, location, function, indication
Category: Shu Stream Yuan Source Influential Point of the Vessels (can be used for schlerosis, varicose veins, etc) Location: At the radial end of the transverse crease of the wrist, in the depression on the lateral side of the radial artery (perpendicular - avoid radial artery) Functions: -Dispels wind and transforms phlegm (important when phlegm accumulating in the lung - source point - tonify Lung Qi) -Rectifies the lung and suppresses cough -Clears and depurates upper burner and lung qi Indications: cough, asthma, hemoptysis, sore throat, palpitation, pain in chest, wrist and arm (might be combined with SP3 for phlegm accumulating in Lung when Spleen Qi is deficient
38
LU10 - Category, Location, Functions, Indications
Category: Ying Spring Location: On the radial aspect of the midpoint of the 1st metacarpal bone on the junction of the red and white skin (perpendicular) Functions: **generally used for sore throats -Courses the lung and harmonizes the stomache (clears heat) -Disinhibits the throat - clears/opens the throat -Clears abated heat -Abates fever Indications: cough, hemoptysis, sore throat, loss of voice, fever, feverish sensation in the palm
39
LU11 - Category, Location, Functions, Indications
Category: Jing Well Locations: On the radial side of the thumb, about 0.1 cun posterior to the corner of the nail (puncture or prick to bleed at the onset of sore throat) Functions: -Frees channel qi -Revives inversion - resusitation -Clears lung counterflow -Disinhibits the throat - used more at the onset -Courses and discharges surging counterflow qi and fire in the 12 channels Indicaitons: sore throat, cough, asthma, epistaxis, fever, loss of consciousness, mania, spasmodic pain of the thumb
