Lymph System Flashcards
(31 cards)
What regions of the body comprise the lymph right drainage area?
- Right side of head and neck
- Right upper limb
- Upper right quadrant
Where does lymph from the right drainage area flow and where does it empty?
Right side -
Flows into: right lymphatic duct
Empties into: right subclavian vein
What regions of the body comprise the left lymph drainage area?
- Left side of head and neck
- Left upper limb
- Left upper quadrant
- Lower trunk
- Lower limbs (both)
Where does lymph from the left drainage area flow and where does it empty?
Left side -
Flows into: Thoracic duct, transports lymph up to left lymphatic duct
Empties into: left subclavian vein
What does the horizontal superficial ring of nodes surround?
It surrounds the transition area between the head and neck.
What does the horizontal deep ring of nodes surround?
It surrounds the visceral structures of the neck.
To which lymph nodes does the Left Deep Cervical chain drain?
It drains into the thoracic duct, which drains into the junction of the subclavian and internal jugular vein.
To which lymph nodes does the Right Deep Cervical chain drain into?
It drains into the Common Right Lymphatic duct, which then drains into the junction of the subclavian and internal jugular vein.
Which lymph nodes make up the Superficial horizontal ring?
Submental (4) Submandibular (7) Superficial Parotid (4) Deep Parotid (4) Retroauricular (2) Occipital (1)
Which lymph nodes make up the Deep horizontal ring?
Retropharyngeal (3)
The below lymph nodes are for the nose, ear, pharnyx, larynx, and trachea. (I don't believe that we have to remember them.) Paratracheal (2) Pre-tracheal Pre-laryngeal Infrahyoid
To which lymph node do the lower lip and chin drain?
Submental lymph node
To which lymph node do the upper lip and cheek drain?
Submandibular lymph node
To which lymph node do the eyelids, temples, prominence of cheek, and auricle of the ear drain?
Superficial parotid lymph node
To which lymph nodes does the scalp drain?
Retroauricular and occipital.
To which lymph node does the tip of the tongue drain?
Submental lymph node
To which lymph node does the lateral part of the anterior 2/3rd of the tongue drain?
Submandibular lymph node
To which lymph node does the medial part of the anterior 2/3rd of the tongue drain?
It drains directly into the deep cervical nodes (Common right lymphatic and thoracic ducts).
To which lymph node does lymph from the Posterior 1/3rd of the tongue drain?
It drains into the retropharyngeal lymph node. The retropharyngeal lymph node is part of the deep horizontal ring.
For this lecture, this is one of only two instances that something drains into the Retropharyneal lymph node (Palatal gingiva also drains into it).
To which lymph node does maxillary teeth drain into?
Submandibular lymph node
To which lymph node does mandibular teeth drain?
Deep cervical nodes (common right lymphatic duct and thoracic duct)
To which lymph node does lymph from the anterior floor of the mouth drain?
Submental lymph node
To which lymph node do the mandibular lingual gingiva and floor of mouth drain?
The submandibular node and the deep cervical nodes (right common lymphatic and thoracic duct)
To which lymph node do the vestibular gingiva of the maxilla and mandibular drain?
Submandibular lymph node
To which lymph nodes does lymph from the palatal gingiva drain?
Submandibular and Retropharyngeal lymph nodes
(This is one of only two regions that drains into a deep horizontal ring node [retropharyngeal]. The other is the Posterior 1/3rd of the tongue).
