Elementary and Secondary Education Act
April 11, 1965 reached nearly 5 million of deprived children by putting 30 million new books into libraries and schools, and new teaching techniques. It was renamed the no children left behind act by George W. Bush.
Medicare and Medicaid
Social Security Act on July 30th, 1965.
Department of Housing and Urban Development
August 10th, 1965 Omnibus Housing Bill which measured 7.5 billion. Aimed at fighting housing and poverty.
Water Quality Act
October 2nd, 1965 Prevented water pollution by enforcing states to establish water quality standards.
Selma March
Sunday March 7th, 1965. 600 people marched from Selma to Montgomery Alabama to protest against discrimination and their right to vote. Armed state troopers attacked the protesters. Congresses passed the Voting Right Act of 1965.
Voting Rights Act of 1964
July 2nd. Not actually put into place until 1964 when it was proposed in 1963. Allowed African Americans the right to vote.
Tax Cuts
February 26th, 1964 Revenue Act. Income tax rates were cut by 20%, corporate tax rates were reduced, and a minimum standard deduction was introduced. In 1966 unemployment fell to 3.8%.
War on Poverty
Economic Opportunity Act. The budget for poverty doubled from 1965-1968. It was abolished in 1981.

August 1964. Training, secondary education, and loans to small business to abolish unemployment and poverty. It was abolished in 1981.
Mann Doctorine
Emphasized economic growth. Protection of US business interests and would communicate with military dictators to stop communism. Stability over democracy.
Vietnam
Promised to end the war but kept sending more and more troops.
