M1 Flashcards
(18 cards)
What is the most important thing in all of mechanics!
READ THE FUCKING QUESTION TWICE.
CHECK THE FUCKING MATHS YOU DUMB ASS.
Define a particle
An object whoes mass can be considered a singularity, with no dimentions, because it is small compared to other objects in the scene.
Define a rod
An object with one dimension which is small in comparison to the other.
Define Lamina
An object with one dimension very small in comparison to the other two- ie a flat surface.
Define a uniform body
An object with uniform mass. This means that the effective mas will be acting on the center of mass.
Define a light object
An object with a very small mass in comparison with the masses of other objects.
Define an inextensible string
A string which does not stretch under load. It means the tension is always the same across the string.
What is a smooth surface?
There is no friction.
What is a rough surface?
There is friction.
Define a wire
A rigid thin length of metal. One dimensional- often used for threaded beads.
Define a Smooth/Light Pulley
No friction being applied to the pulley.
What is the suvat equation which is missing DISPLACEMENT?
V = U+at
What is the suvat equation which is missing ACCELERATION?
S = t(U+V)/2
What is the suvat equation which is missing TIME?
V^2 = U^2 + 2aS
What is the suvat equation which is missing FINAL VELOCITY?
S = Ut + 1/2 at^2
What is the suvat equation which is missing INITIAL VELOCITY?
S = Vt - 1/2 at^2
What is the acceleration due to gravity in M1?
9.8 m/s^2
What is the way of remembering what the Gradient and Area of speed, distance and acceleration?
DVA. Differentiate D to find V, and diff V to find A. Intergrate A to find V, Int V to find D.
