banquet scene, macbeth isn’t happy that fleance isn’t dead but tolerates it, hallucinates banquo’s ghost, to which lady macbeth tells the lords it’s just his fits from childhood and he regains composure until he sees banquo again after making a toast to him , becomes fearful and guilty and lady macbeth mocks him and tells the lords to leave, who have since lost their trust in him, he’s questioning why macduff turned down the invitation and resolves to see the witches, says he can’t turn back now

witches cast spell around the cauldron (double double toil and trouble) and hecate’s like YAY, macbeth comes to see the witches, and they show him 3 appirations: an armed head which tells him to beware macduff, the second is a bloody child saying no man born of woman will hurt macbeth, the third is a crowned child who says he’s fine until birnam wood comes to dunisanne, macbeth is like ok but will banquo’s descendants be in the the throne and they’re like UGH fine but you’re kys and he sees an appirations of 8 kings following banquo’s ghost, and he sees fleance and he’s like NOO and then the witches are like peace loser and then lennox tells macbeth macduff went to england and he’s like WHAT and vows to kill everyone who traces him in his line

Macbeth continues to stand his ground against the siege. He has ‘almost forgot the taste of fears’. Seyton reports that Lady Macbeth is dead. Macbeth reflects on the pointless nature of life being only ‘a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing’. A messenger informs Macbeth that he has seen Birnam Wood moving towards Dunsinane hill. Macbeth is unnerved that the prophecy has come true but vows he will die fighting.
