Act 1 scene 1:witches planning to meet Macbeth

OI: witches are presented as sinister characters whon are morally confused and disoriented.
A1S2: captain reports to Duncan before Macbeth is crowned thane of Cawdor

OI: macbeth is presented as a brave and noble hero and contrasts the way he acts later on in the play

OI: macbeth is asking fate to look away as he knows he is going to go against Gods feelings out of envy and greed.

this shows that macbeths hamartia is out of control and is leading him down a dark apth
A2S2:just before duncan is killed by macbeth
is the the *dagger *which i see before me, The handle toward my hand? Come let me clutch thee.
this shows that his promise to kill duncan is causing macbeths mental anguish. he is stressed and hallucinating the dagger which is leading him towards duncan. almost like ambition is leafding the way.
A2S2: after macbeth kills duncan
will all great neptune’s ocean wash this blood clean from my hands
this presents macbeths overwhelming guilt at dunacn and breaking The Great Chain of being.
A3S4:banquo ghost scene
thou canst not say I did it: never shake/ the gory locks at me!
OI: Overall, this shows that Macbeth’s guilt at having Banquo murdered. It is the last point that guilt is demonstrated from Macbeth before he fully embraces his tyranny and evil.
A3S3: after banquo ghost before returning to witches
I am I blood stepped so far that should I wade no more returning,were as tedious as go o’er
Macbeth realises how many sins he has commited and knows he has no choice nut to carry on with evil to keep this power.
A4S3: malcolm and macduff discussing Macbeths’ reign
this **tyrant **whose sole name blisters our tongue
other thanes are aware of Macbeths failings as a monarch.
A5S1: before LM kills herself

LM is consumed by guilt resulting from her actions and also macbeths
A5S7:LM is dead and the castle is being attacked

of this dead butcher and fiend like queen
malcolm is criticising macbeth and LM. theyv will always be remembered for their evil
