What does it mean? What is the basic rule?

A

to elongate the vowels alif (أ), yaa (ي), and wow (و) for a certain time period

  • What should you do when you reach the end of a verse?
    • By default, every ending accent is changed into a saakin.
    • If it is a a double accented fatha, then the ending accent is changed to an alif.
