  2. Produces neuromuscular blockade in CNS

Mag Sulfate Indications

A
  1. Refractory VFIB/pulseless VTAC(ACLS)
  2. Treatment for torsades de pointes(polymorphic VTAC)
  3. Seizures associated with eclampsia and alcohol withdrawal
  4. Dysthythmias associated with digitalis toxicity
  5. Bronchospasms refractory to traditional medications

  1. Cardiogenic shock

Mag Sulfate side effects

A

Cardio: dysrhythmias, bradycardia, hypotension, heart blocks
Neuro: drowsiness
Respiratory: decreased resp rate, respiratory paralysis
Other: Flushing, Sweating

Mag Sulfate routes/dosages

A

Routes: IVP, IO, IM, IVPB
Adult: 1-4g in 50-100ml NS IVPB/IVP over 5 minutes
Pediatric: 20-50mg/kg in 50-100 ml NS IVPB max single dose is 2g
