How does a transformer work?
A
An AC voltage is applied to the primary coil. This creates a rate of change in magnetic flux. The iron core links the magnetic flux density to the secondary coil. Because the secondary coil is experiencing a rate of change of flux an EMF is produced against the secondary coil.
