Mammary Glands
The milk-producing gland of a woman or other female mammals.
Endothermic
Of an animal dependent on or capable of the internal generation of heat.
Insectavore
Any of various small mammal, as moles and shrews, that are active mainly at night and that feed principally on insects.
Herbivore
An animal that feeds on plants.
Carnivore
A carnivorous animal or plant (flesh-eating).
Omnivore
A mammal of eating any sort of food, esp. both animal and vegetable food.
Ruminant
An even-toed ungulate mammal that chews the cud regurgitated from its rumen. The ruminants comprise the cattle, sheep, antelopes, deer, giraffes, and their relatives.
Incisors
Any of the front cutting teeth between the canines.
Canine Teeth
Any of the sharp-pointed teeth next to the incisors.
Molars
A grinding tooth at the back of a mammal’s mouth.

Fertilization which takes place inside the female body.
Gestation Period
The period during which an embryo develops.
Placenta
A flattened circular organ in the uterus of pregnant eutherian mammals, nourishing and maintaining the fetus through the umbilical cord.
Monotremes
A primitive mammal that lays large yolky eggs and has a common opening for the urogenital and digestive systems.
Marsupials
A mammal of an order whose members are born incompletely developed and are typically carried and suckled in a pouch on the mother’s belly.
Chiroptera
An order of mammals that comprises the bats.
Primates
Any member of the group of animals that includes human beings, apes, and monkeys.
Xenarthra
An order of mammals that comprises the edentates.
Rodentia
An order of the division Eutheria comprising relatively small gnawing mammals having a single pair of incisors in each jaw that grow from persistent pulps and bear enamel chiefly in front to produce a chisel-shaped edge.
Lagomorpha
A mammal of the order Lagomorpha; a hare, rabbit, or pika.
Carnivora
An order of mammals that are distinguished by having powerful jaws and teeth adapted for stabbing, tearing, and eating flesh.
Proboscidea
An order of large mammals that are distinguished by the possession of a trunk and tusks.
Sirenia
An order of large aquatic plant-eating mammals that live chiefly in tropical coastal waters and are distinguished by paddle-like forelimbs and a tail flipper replacing hind limbs.
