Why do we have audit?

to monitor and improve our quality management system in order to provide the best service to our users and PATIENT SAFETY.
Prospective vs retrospective audit
Prospective - real time data collection e.g. monthly TAT
RETRO - historical review e.g. abnormality rates

- Transparent responsibility and accountability for standards
- Constant dynamic of improvement
Components - clinical audit e.g. eqa, clinical effectiveness, education and training (Cpd), risk management, openness, r&d, clinical information and IT, patient and public involvement, staffing and staff management
