what are the alternate stages on the Tannenbaum Schmidt continuum

A

tells - authoritarian approach to management where staff are simply informed as to what the decision is - the staff have 0 involvement with actually making the decision

sells- the manager still makes the decision however the decision is then presented to the staff to make it sound more reasonable, staff may be aloud to ask questions however they do not influence the decision being made

suggests- a decision is outlined to the workforce and they are allowed to discuss and ask questions - this helps them feel as if there opinions are being considered

consults- the manager proposes the decision however the decision is open to being modified.

joins- the manager proposes the problem and the workforce work together to discuss solutions. Ultimately though the manager still makes the final decision

delegates- the manager outlines the problem and sets constraints to the teams discussion and then the team make the final decision but the manager is accountable for the outcome of the decision.

abdicates- the team define and solve the problem, ultimate level of freedom for the workforce

scientific is based on data - takes longer but is more informed

intuative is based on gut feeling - quicker less informed

times both outcomes return by the probability and then add it by the two outcomes and take away the initial investment
