What is a countour line
Contour lines are lines that join up areas of equal height on a map. By looking at how far apart the contour lines of an area are, we can tell how steep or flat the land is.
What does the world relief mean?
relief The highest and lowest elevation points in an area. scale The ratio of a distance on the map to the corresponding distance on the ground.
How do you find the Six Figure Grid Reference
To find a six-figure grid reference on a map, first locate the four-figure grid reference for the relevant square, then estimate how many tenths of the square the point lies across and up, adding these to the four-figure reference.
why are 6 figure grid references useful
let you accurately describe a location within (inside) a grid square
what are human features and physical features
In geography, physical features are naturally occurring elements like mountains, rivers, and deserts, while human features are those created or modified by humans, such as cities, roads, and buildings
what are lines of latitude
imaginary horizontal lines that circle the Earth, running east to west, and are used to measure distances north or south of the Equator.
