What is longitude?

A

Geographic coordinates running from the North Pole to South Pole to specify a location for earth. Its point originates at 0 degrees which is known as the prime meridian. On the opposite side of the prime meridian is the international date line which is at 180 degrees. To the top of the prime meridian is north and to the bottom is south.

What is latitude?

A

Geographic coordinates running from east to west to specify location on earth. It runs from 0 degrees at the equator to 90 degrees at the north and South Pole. Latitude is reported in degrees N or S. Sometimes referred to as parallels as they run parallel outwards from the equator.

What is the prime meridian?

A

The prime meridian is located at 0 degrees longitude. It splits east and west. To its left is the west and to its right is the east. It originates in Greenwich, England.

A

It is at 180 degrees and sits opposite of the prime meridian. One location that it runes through is Fiji.
