MMR schedule
12-15 mos and 4-6 yrs
Age qual for international travel or outbreak situations.
6+ mos
Low risk exposure adults recommended…
one dose in lifetime or positive measles IgG.
Adults with elevated exposure risk (secondary education institutions, int. travel,…)

measles symptoms
fever, cough, coryza, conjunctivitis preceding rash by 2-4 days. Generally 1-3 weeks from exposure.

In air and on surfaces for up to 2 hours after carrier leaves the room.

pre-exposure prophylaxis. standard for measles
Care for Measles
no specific antiviral therapy. Mostly supportive care and secondary infection care. Vitamin A (severe cases, hospitalized.)
Vit A use in measles
Retinol. PO 50,000 to 200,000 IU PO qd x2 days
MMR II, Priorix
Live vaccine. no monitoring req. Contraindicated in pregnancy. Use contraception for 4wks in females after administration. Benefit outweighs risk when bf.
Adult 2 dose schedule MMR
4+ weeks apart.
